Rebecca & Andrew - As You Like It - North East Wedding Photography

I went along to second shoot at Rebecca and Andrews Wedding with Emily Hannah Photography at As You Like It in Newcastle. The wedding was beautiful and the venue was unusual and atmospheric. It was a lovely day and a great oppertunity to work with a photographer who I have been following for a while now.

Lego Wedding Cake - North East Photography

At a wedding that I worked as a second shooter for in september they had this cake. One side was white with flowers, while the other had logos from Lego, Star Wars and Superman and the figures on top were made of Lego. Such an individual idea, and embraces the traditional style of cake as well as adding their own twist to it.

Bridal Shoot - Northumberland Moors - North East Wedding Photography

Last weekend I did a styled Bridal shoot alongside Claire Fleck Photography We went out onto the moors near Chillingham in Northumberland with a beautiful sweeping landscape and purple heather. We were going for quite natural and simple elegance with the styling alongside flowers bout from Appleyard flowers. I styled the floral crown myself using one of the bouquets that we bought, as you can see in one of my previous blog posts.

Christine & Russell Sneak Peek - Langley Castle - North East Wedding Photographer

Last week I photographed the wedding of Christine and Russell at Langley Castle. They have been together for 30 years before getting married this summer and their wedding was a lovely intimate affair with just a few close family and friends. Here is just a small sneak peek at their wedding, I will blog about the wedding fully once I have finished processing the remaining images and sent them off to the couple.

Bridal Shoot Sneak Peek - Northumberland Moors - North East Wedding Photography

We went out onto the Northumbrian Moors the other day to do a styled Bridal Shoot. The weather was perfect and the heather was in full bloom and beautifully purple. I have many more to share, but this is just a quick sneak peek while I finish the editing. I also photographed a lovely wedding at Langley Castle last week that I am currently processing and will hopefully have up on the blog soon.

Floral Crown - Bridal Shoot - North East Wedding Photography

I am doing a Bridal Shoot tomorrow with a few friends of mine and I have spent today getting everything organised and planning what we will be doing. I spent some of my time arranging some flowers I bought into a floral crown that will be worn by one of the models tomorrow, below are some images I took while I was making it. I am really excited, I think it is going to be lots of fun and hopefully I should get some really pretty images.

Wedding Albums

I have been getting quite a few enquiries recently for wedding photography, which is exciting, and I have a fair few booked in for 2016 already! A potential client asked to see an example of the albums that I have available so I took a few photographs of my example album to send to her. Ii thought I might as well post them here too.

Shona & Pablo - Broxmouth Park Wedding - Dunbar - North East Wedding Photographer

Last weekend in between two weeks of Jury Duty (not my favouite experience in the world) I worked with Lauren Mcglynn again as a second shooter for a lovely wedding at Broxmouth Park in Dunbar. It was pouring rain on my drive up there, but the sun came out just in time for the wedding to go off without a hitch. The venue was lovely and the ceremony took place in front of a giant tree that had been planted by Queen Victoria in memory of her husband Albert.

AppleYard Flowers - North East Wedding Photography

For the Bridal shoot that I did with my friend Esther back in May, I used some flowers that I had ordered from AppleYard flowers. They do great bouquets that you can order online to be delivered at a specified time on a specific day. I really liked how loose and free their arrangements were with a nice vintagey feel. The bouquets come in different sizes, this bouquet was just the smallest size, they were all quite reasonably priced and very fresh and beautiful. Although they are based in London, the flowers were quickly delivered to me up in the North East, and were still fresh in a protective box so also not squished at all. This bouquet was actually quite basic as I was trying to preserve money, but they have really beautiful arrangements on there. If I had been buying for an actual occasion I would have gladly put a bit more money in to have one of their wildflower bouquets. You can see their flowers on their website HERE Below are just a couple of photographs of the flowers that I took during the shoot.

Wedding Fair: July 12th 2015 - Northumberland - North East Wedding Photographer

I attended a wedding fair at the White Swan in Alnwick today with a small stall. It was quite an interesting experience, it was quite quiet but I did make one booking which is exciting! The wedding isn't until 2016 but it sounds really nice.
On my stall I had a collection of framed photographs as well as some flyers and business cards. I was pretty happy with my display, I think I would do something similar if I went to one of these events again.

Yuli and Callum - Wedding Photography - Dunkeld Wedding

I had a great day working as a 2nd shooter with photographer Lauren McGlynn at the weekend for the wedding of Yuli and Callum at a stately home in Dunkeld. The wedding was quite unusual, a blend of traditional scottish heritage mixed with some enthusiastic Greek dancing, and lots of fun to photograph.

Congratulations to Yuli and Callum!

Skye's Skies

This week I have been on holiday on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. It's been a beautiful week, it feels almost like another world! I have more photographs to share from my week here but for now here is the view out of my window this morning. That is actually the Scottish shoreline across from Skye that we can clearly see from our cabin. .

Urban Landscape: Part 2

The first few photos here were actually taken in Alnwick rather than Newcastle, this building used to be an old cinema but now is left unused overgrowing with nettles.  Once I got to Newcastle I walked down by the Ouseburn, along the tow track beside the river. As well as textures and nature, which was my focus last week, I was focusing on windows and doors which always seem to be quite interesting in old dilapidated buildings, especially when they re boarded up or no longer in use.

Urban Landscape: The backstreets of Newcastle

I am currently doing a photography course at Newcastle College, it's been running since February and finishes on the 15th of June. The current project is 'Urban Landscape' and I have been interested in photographing derelict and decaying buildings as part of this. I am also looking at nature in contrast with the urban buildings; where plant life has started to take back an area that has been built up. On Monday I went on a walk along a backstreet in Newcastle and took some photographs of the buildings there. I really like the different textures that appear in decaying buildings, especially where there are traces of something else that used to be on top of the brickwork, or the remains of other buildings that have now been demolished creating a patchwork of old and new.

Hadrians Wall

So I have got a little bit behind with this with the photo shoot at the weekend taking up some time. Its my Birthday tomorrow but my mum and dad are both working most of the day (they are both GPs) and I won't really see them at all during my birthday so we decided to have a nice day on the bank holiday to make up for it. We drove down to Hadrian's wall and had a picnic and a nice walk. It was a bit drizzly (and very windy) but it was still a nice fake birthday! Tomorrow two of my friends from university are travelling up for a visit and we are going to have an explore of the countryside so hopefully some nice photographs will occur!
